Cluster – From June 3rd (only by appointment)
Cluster is more something like an approach than an exhibition — or a series of exhibitions: it is a concept conceived by the gallery in response not only to the context and constraints of an unprecedented situation in which we have been immersed for more than a year, but also — and perhaps above all — a way of taking into consideration some aspects linked to the evolution of the traditional models of the galleries, the most mediatized of which have become, like the luxury industry, real brands that compete and seek to establish or take on new market shares.
Thus, values such as expertise or real and thorough knowledge of a work, which is taken into consideration in its entirety and over the long term, often seem to be relegated to the rank of accessories that are manipulated according to opportunities and trends that are now more related to the origin of the artists or the social categories, or even sometimes pseudo-rediscoveries, all of which are actions that are primarily intended to feed the surface of the art market.
Cluster is a word which, pandemic obliges, is heard regularly but as a title of this program, it refers to the first meanings of the word, namely an arrangement of objects or in the musical field, the way in which several notes, played together, will resound.
Cluster aims to function as a kind of evolving program, the idea being precisely to avoid the “frozen” aspect of an exhibition by freeing itself from it and by changing the arrangements (by the gallery itself or external contributors), without any prior notice, which implies that the visitors will never see exactly the same thing.
In the same way, if the conditions allow it again, events (lectures, screenings or performances) will punctuate these arrangements.
The first list of the artists included in Cluster will be communicated from June 3rd.
We invite you to contact us for any visit of the exhibition which is accessible only by appointment. Thank you for your comprehension.
